Corresponding author: Andrea Blasio, MD Division of Cardiac Surgery Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele Via Olgettina, 60 20132 Milan, Italy e-mail: [email protected] A 46 year-old-man, treated in childhood for aortic coarctation and hypoplasia of the aortic arch with a prosthetic graft from the ascending to the descending aorta, presented with a saccular aneurysm at the thoracic aorta. The aneurysm involved the distal anastomosis of the previously constructed prosthetic graft (Figure 1). Because of the presence of widespread and lasting adhesions, the operation has been carried out in two days in a staged fashion: on day 1 reopening of the chest at the previous thoracotomy, lysis of the adhesions and exposure of the aneurysm; on day 2 resection of the part of the lung adherent to the aneurysm (Figure 2A) by surgical stapler (arrow), thus avoiding damage to the aneurysm during dissection; exclusion of the aneurysm with a Dacron® patch (Figure 2B) during a short period of circulatory arrest in deep hypothermia. One-month CT confirmed excellent surgery result (Figure 2C). Surgical correction of a saccular descending aortic aneurysm

Endovascular Repair of Aortobronchial Fistula due to Saccular Aneurysm of Thoracic Aorta
Aortobronchial fistula (ABF) is a rare condition which can be lethal if left untreated. Open surgical treatment carries high morbidity and mortality. Recent advances in endovascular technology have made thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) the treatment of choice. We present a successful endovascular repair of aortobronchial fistula due to a saccular aneurysm of descending thoracic aorta.
متن کاملAn unexpected complication and an endovascular solution during endovascular repair of subclavian artery and thoracic aorta aneurysm
Methods A 61 years old man with abdominal endovascular aortic stent-graft inserted previously, had a saccular aneurysm of descending aorta distal to left subclavian artery and a small dissection flap with saccular aneurysm originating from left subclavian artery. Since the patient refused to have any surgical procedure for left subclavian artery revascularisation, thoracic aortic-stenting for d...

Aneurysm of the descending aorta associated with CoA is an extremely rare congenital abnormality. In this report, we present a 16 months old female patient in whom cardiac catheterization had been performed which had revealed a segment of coarctation and saccular aneurysm in the descending aorta. The patient was operated and a 3x2 centimeters aneurysm which embraces the coarcted segment in desc...
متن کاملCase report: successful endovascular treatment of saccular thoracic aneurysm with "shaggy aorta".
A 68 year old man was admitted to our hospital with dysphagia and back pain. Contrasted computed tomography showed "Shaggy aorta" forming a saccular descending aortic aneurysm with edematous esophagus. Low density area in the intramuscular layer of the esophagus suggested the possibility of connection between the esophagus and the aneurysm. The patient underwent endovascular treatment of the an...
متن کاملAORTIC TRANSECTION AND ITS SURGICAL REPAIR: A CASE REPORT FROM IRAN
Aortic transection is a rare but life-threatening complication of blunt chest trauma. Treatment options include open repair, medical management and most recently, endovascular repair. We report a 33 years old male with a traumatic aortic transection following a car accident. Aortic injury and its pseudo-aneurysm were confirmed by Chest CT scan and TEE in the descending thoracic aorta just belo...
